View Full Version : I can't use Arcsoft Video Decoder in MPC

I have Total MediaTheatre from Arcsoft installed in my computer, but when I attempt to add as a new filter in MPC-HC, it keeps using Sonic Cinemaster Video Decoder or another.

I configured my other video decoders to be blocked or to not be used if the content is H.264/VC-1, but no matter what I do, even if I block the last filter that is being used, MPC is not loading the Arcsoft Video Decoder!

It's strange, since yesterday I think I saw this decoder being used here. I believe it was called "Microsoft DTV-DVD Decoder" but the colours (which are more vibrant in TMT playback) were similar to what I saw in TMT.

I have the last version from TMT.

Is there something we can do to force MPC-HC to use Arcsoft's VIDEO decoder? I am getting tired of MPC refusing to use the filters I want. Or maybe we can't use their decoder at all?

FFDshow is not blocked, but it's not being used for H264/AVC, VC-1 and MPEG2.

Using: Windows 7, 32 bit. Also K-Lite Codec Pack.

I think I managed to make the whole thing work following what was explained on this site (I would never have guessed myself to do all those things):

However, it's relying on the LAV Splitter Source to display the audio/subtitle streams. Is there a way for me to use another splitter?

You can configure your preferred source filter (=splitter) using Codec Tweak Tool.
Your screenshot shows the MS decoder being used instead of the Arcsoft one. Perhaps it can't be used outside of TMT?
With GraphStudio you can manually construct a filter graph. That can be useful for testing.

Or getting something interesting from Arcsoft under NDA (fully legal) ;)

This tutorial I quoted in my last post is what I needed to make the whole thing work. I tried several workarounds here, but failed to use the Arcsoft Video Decoder.

What the guy explained here was what I needed to make this thing work. Glad I found this link.

And according to him, you only need a trial version anyway.

However I am experiencing the COM Surrogate message everytime I try to open a m2ts file. I will see if this is related to LAV Splitter in the other thread.
