I just finished ripping Pulp Fiction, but I encountered a problem when I was to burn the mpg files to cd. This is a 3 cd rip, the movie is 147 mins. But Nero refuses to burn the files to 80 min cds, even though the files shouldn't be too big (CD1 is 795mb, CD2 795mb and CD3 is 750mb). I haven't deleted any of the files from the ripping yet, if that is to any help.

Hi Mephesto,

as da franksta just hints, it is strongly recommended to use the latest version of Nero (5.5.7.2) as other versions had some issues with burning *.cue files.

If you already use the latest Nero then try to overburn (just to be an the safe side) by enabling it under the "File/Preferences..." menu in the "Expert Features" tab by checking the "Enable overburn ..." checkbox and make sure you use "disc-at-once" mode when burning the images and verify that your burner is able to overburn.

Might help as i use these settings with Nero and burning the *.cue files works perfectly.

Rather than stopping at the mpg stage, you are better off letting DVD2SVCD create images and then you can burn them with Nero 5572. The big advantage is that it will automatically create DVD chapters for you. (see "cd image" tab)

Hope this helps.

Very good point ev!

I just assumed he tried to burn the *.cue files but after re-reading his post all is clear. (Just was reading it to quick :o)

My Nero version is 5.5.5.6. I haven't tried making images directly, since I've had some problems with the movie not getting 100% ripped, so I like to check out the result before I burn it. I'll try to overburn, and I'll also try to make images the next time I rip. Thanks.

You can still check the result before you burn as long as you don't tick the "delete all files" box. The mpg's will still be there when you finish. It would pay for you to download the latest Nero which has cue/bin burning incorporated in the wizard....too easy.

I have downloaded the Nero 5.5.7.2 now, but there's is no option for image burning the wizard... But it's no big deal, it's just as easy using the File menu. Nero rocks by the way, don't need any other CD-R software.

Just select "other formats" in the wizard.

Somebody suggested to me the easiest way to burn is not to use the wizard, instead file-burn image

It does the same thing so I suppose it's up to the user.

Mephesto,

This is my problem before, i did some experimenting and it worked!
Try demux and remux with tmpgenc. In nero click on compatibility and select mpegav instead mpg2 entrysvcd standard. Now you can burn your mpg and play it in your dvd/svcd player. Hope this help.

Mephesto
in the future the easiest way to check before burning is to let dvd2svcd run thru and create the cue/bin files.
make sure u have daemon tools installed (this creates a virtual cdrom drive)
load the image into daemon tools
play with powerdvd
and u can check everything except chapters :)
can also use disk copy from your favourite burning app to copy the virtual disk too if u like.

They worked perfectly when I overburned (cd1 was 80:30 mins). So thanks for all the help.
