Hi folks,

I tried opening an AVI file with VirtualDub 1.9.11 and I got "FFMPEG.DLL" error message ...

BTW, I am using the VirtualDub in Stand-alone folder format I have Not installed it. Also, I have the latest FFDShow installed.

Q: Why am I getting this ffmpeg.dll error message!?!?

Also, I opened this same AVI file in AviDemux 2.5.5 Portable ... and something is odd about this file ... the VIDEO button is Grayed Out ... so I can Not choose different Video format conversions ... but the Audio button is available and I can choose different formats.

Thanks,

G! :)

The answer to your Avidemux question is easy:
In "Copy" mode (same as "Direct Stream Copy" in VirtualDub), which is selected by default, there is nothing to configure. Also in that mode you can't apply any filters, obviously. Thus both buttons, Configure and Filters, are disabled (greyed out). Select something different from "Copy" and the buttons will be enabled again!

About your VirtualDub question:
This is more difficult to answer. Does it complain about a missing DLL or does it crash in that DLL? Anyway, VirtualDub uses VFW Codecs to decode the input. And, whatever VFW Codec is used for the Video format stored in your AVI file (probably VirtualDub has selected the the ffdshow VFW Codec), seems to have a "problem" with FFMPEG.DLL. Without further info, my suggestion is: Try a clean re-install of latest ffdshow-tryouts.

Hi Lord_Mulder,

Appreciate your reply. I will try your suggestion on re-installing the ffdshow ... matter of a fact will uninstall and then install the CLSID version.

Thanks again!

Hi Lord_Molder,

I tried installing latest FFDShow ... but I am still getting this ffdshow error saying "Failed to load ffmpeg.dll!"

What does this mean? How can I fix this?

Thanks!

G! :)
