On my p3 1ghz at 1095mhz I was getting .815-.820 for 16:9 and around 1.0 for 3:4 movies. After upgrading to the newer version I am getting .685 for 16:9 using simple resize and around 5.5 for 4:3. I get around .59 using bicubicresize for 16:9 movies.

I have not changed anything with my system. I am running 512mb of ram at cas2. using the same drive for the vobs and to encode from, but my speeds have dropped. I am running the same programs in the background as before and cce is getting right around 98% of my cpu. Anyone have any ideas of what may be causing this speed decrease?

This was after upgrading to 1.0.6 build 4. I have tried going back to earlier versions but I cannot get my speed back. temporal smoothing is off and all the setting on the "encoder" tab are default and have always been.

It is the 4:3 speeds that are really confusing to me, but I"d also like to get the 16:9 speeds back up too.

i dont suppose you have a ghost image of your pre build 4 install ?

Unfortunately I do not.
I've encoded 20+ dvds at my old faster rate so I know my computer can encode faster. I'm just not sure why it doesn't any more since nothing has changed.

if you can make a ghost/pdqi image of your setup
do a quick windows install and install the prgrams u need for this
and test that
that would help you trouble shoot
if a new installation doesnt work with an old version that u knew was fast then it is either bios related (have u tweaked anything there) or you *might* have a new hardware issue
hope that helps :)

I guess I did changed something in the bios. Messed around with the bios and my speed is back plus some since I"m using SimpleResize now.

the old forgotten about bios tweak ;)
what setting was causing it just out of interest ?

It was a setting in the softmenu 3 part of the bios where you change multiplier, voltage etc. It was something depth that can either be 1 or 8. I put it to 8 to get back my speed. It says less stability with 8, but better performance.

Can anybody expand on this? I don't recognize pap's description of this bios setting. Pap, what bios?

Hmm softmenu 3 is Abit.
I think what he means are the advanced settings to OverClock the cpu.
