Hey. I'm new to video capturing and encoding so I don't really know what the source of this problem is. I'm using a Hauppage TV Tuner to record games played on my Gamecube. The console uses a composite video signal which I'm splitting so that one end goes to the TV and the other goes to the PC for recording. Most of the video came out properly but sometimes the colours were lost, like this: http://gyazo.com/74291ec734c3be14f2a37ee9578c9207

(If it isn't obvious, the background isn't supposed to be monochrome. There should be green for the trees and blue for the sky, etc.)

Any idea as to what might be causing this? I think it's a capturing problem rather than an encoding one because I believe the problem was there before I even reopened the file in Virtual Dub to resync the audio.

What are you splitting with? You need to have some kind of amplifier, you can't just divide the wires. And this looks very much like it (weakened signal, maybe some interference and/or noise).
