Well...I do play around with videos for quite some time. But I still consider myself a noob (novice in this field). So I am just wondering if there is a guide that could try to help me understand all the video terminologies with pictures describing what they are.
Because every video encoder must at least know more or less about scripting. But in order to learn them well, I think one must be familiar with filters. To understand filtering, one must understand the terms used in the explanation.
That's what I am asking for. Hope somebody could help.

Is this the sort of thing you're after?

No...I know the syntax and how to write script. But what I don't understand are those terms used for filters....something like threshold, decomb, Setmode and so on...

The terms you listed are all specific to a particular filter, their meaning and use changes depending on the filter. You would need to read the documentation for that filter. Also I believe Decomb is just a filter name, not really a term.
Sorry but I think the link hello_hello gave is the right place to start.

Well...I already read through the whole documentation...
I am not talking about a particular term used in filter but terms in general...The above is just something used as example to describe what I mean.
Cuz I did read the filter doc sometimes, but some of the terms they use are kinda confusing. If there is a guide that could help newbies with the meanings of those terms eps come with pictures, it would be awesome.
Something like frame, field, mask, bob stuff like that.
As a newbie to video, the big problem is not scripting or function, but terms used in them. If one understands the terms, they should have little or no problem reading the filter doc. Otherwise, they do not even know what is described in the doc.

Got a term you don't understand? Put your term into a Google search. It's that simple.
Nobody is going to write an encyclopedia of video terms for you.

Videohelp.com has a rudimentary glossary that might help you a little:

Thanks Manono...This is something I am kind of looking for. You know sometimes google doesn't really help that much. And hope you guys could help me out if possible and hope it won't be a bother.
BTW...I think Manono is also a member of videohelp right? I have seen you help quite a lot of people and not sure if that is you.

These guys have done a fairly good job of it:

Thanks so much you guys...But if there is something like this, it would be much easier to understand and good for newbie to learn and just like the article below
This is a pretty nice article about interlacing
http://neuron2.net/LVG/interlacing.html
The author describes clearly what interlace means and then he also demonstrates that with pictures and a few examples.
