So here it is, something few of us have ever seen - the hidden lines of your video!

The 7 dots at the bottom left indicate the Closed Captioning. Three dots after it with a lot of space mean no activity. Other dots encode two letters to show.
The other lines in the VHS version are a mystery, though I think the 3 vertical lines have something to do with macrovision.
I've also captured raw video from 480p, and you can see the hsync.
This is 1700 pixels of video over 63.4 uS, but it's been resized to something reasonable.
Those 1700 pixels sure help when capturing high def signals!
You can decode those dots in script, btw...
Hey, I just realized I know a way to make *any* capture card cap an image in full 1566 or so pixels, I think a lot of the detail is going to be filtered out by the cards filters though :(
