View Full Version : errors on indexing

I'm experiencing issues with DGindex using two separate tool packages on the same file. First in AutoGK I get this:

[8/4/2011 6:15:30 AM] Demuxing and indexing.
*************************************
EXCEPTION: Cannot open file "E:\video\VIDEO_TS\agk_tmp\video.d2v". The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

Trying the same file in meGUI I see this error, also at the indexing stage:

-[Error] Log for job1 (idx, VTS_01_1.VOB -> VTS_01_1.d2v)
--[Information] [8/4/2011 6:17:40 AM] Started handling job
--[Information] [8/4/2011 6:17:40 AM] Preprocessing
--[Information] [8/4/2011 6:17:41 AM] Job commandline: "C:\Program Files\megui\tools\dgindex\dgindex.exe" -SD=< -AIF=<E:\video\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB< -OF=<E:\video\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1< -FO=0 -exit -hide -OM=2
--[Information] [8/4/2011 6:17:41 AM] Indexing started
--[Error] [8/4/2011 6:17:46 AM] Process exits with error code: -1073741819
--[Information] [8/4/2011 6:17:46 AM] Standard output stream
--[Information] [8/4/2011 6:17:46 AM] Standard error stream

Any ideas at what is happening from these logs. First one indicates the file is in use by something else, but this is not true. Even after a fresh restart I get the same error.

DGindex version is 1.58b in meGUI. AutoGK version appears to be 1.5.3.

That's why ;), the SW has not fully/exclusive access to the file. Thousands of reasons - antivirus, nero indexing, windows indexing, defrag in progress, preview activated, etc etc etc etc including the most ancient of all: read-only (file or medium).

Form all the bold red type in the post above, you'd think you didn't know the log files mentioned DGindex is being used by another process.

No amazingly clever ideas here. I'm surprised you're having the same problem with 2 different versions of DGindex in two different locations.
Try Googling for "Unlocker", downloading and installing it. It's a little utility designed to let you know what's locking files and it'll also unlock them for you if you wish.

Most importantly, this has nothing to do with DGIndex but rather with guis used or some of the stuff already mentioned.

Thanks for the tip about Unlocker. I had forgotten about that program. However, just as I stated in my first post, even though the log says so, there is no other program accessing the *.d2v file at the time of the error. Running Unlocker reveals dwwin.exe, but this is Dr Watson throwing up the error on screen.

Even if I remove the GUI apps from the equation the result is the same using only DGIndex.exe. Here is my command line:
"C:\Program Files\AutoGK\DGMPGDec\DGIndex.exe" -AIF=[VTS_01_1.VOB] -OF=[outfile] -FO=0 -OM=2

Unfortunately the result is the same each time. However, if I skip the first VOB in the sequence (as below) the rest of the file will index and demux fine.
"C:\Program Files\AutoGK\DGMPGDec\DGIndex.exe" -AIF=[VTS_01_2.VOB] -OF=[outfile] -FO=0 -OM=2
So it would appear to be some hiccup between the first VOB and DGIndex.

If the first VOB is at fault is there a tool for finding an error like this. The indexing fails immediately, so possibly there is something in the header that is causing the crash?
