I recently upgraded from Windows XP 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit, so that puts me back in newbie status again for a lot of software.

While I have plans to move to Lagarith for a few reasons, I have a lot of old video material I use and need to access stored in HuffyUV. I tried installing the 64 bit version of HuffyUV, but when I do this

1. The option to encode in HuffyUV doesn't even appear in the 64 bit version of Virtualdub.

2. The 64 bit version of Premiere won't open the existing clips at all.

Is there some sort of workaround for this? I could start converting it all to Lagarith, but that's going to take up way more space than I have free space at the moment. Being able to open it in Premiere would be my best option at the moment.

you could try to install ffdshow 64bit and configure the vfw settings in the ffdshow vfw config,...

I've had bad luck with ffdshow in the past of it improperly decoding an Xvid stream that caused it to have bleeding pixels, whereas the native codec worked fine. Granted it was a while ago, but it definitely made me lose faith in it. I'm hoping there's some way to avoid ffdshow if I can.

VirtualDub1.9.x has internal Huffyuv decoder.
Thus you can read your old Huffyuv.avi without any external codec.

personally i experienced problems with lagarith using w7 64x. i ended up going to huffyuv and never had another problem though as you say premier does not read huffyuv.
