When I use MKVmerge to mux an h264 stream with an m4a encoded audio stream, MKVmerge inserts a "Chapters" file into the mix.

I'm just curious as to what that is for? And is m4a an acceptable file type for mkv creation, or would mp3 or ogg be better?
