Is there any SW that could author DVDs that are big, I mean really big? All programs I've tried either stopped at 8.5GB or at 10GB (I asume because they couldn't write the VTS_01_10.VOB), and I need 13. I know they are not standard but I hoped I could run it through DVD rebuilder or dvdshrink afterwards.

I have used DVDMaestro to compile TV episodes larger than 8.5GB, then DVD-RB to reduce to DVD9. But with several different clips, none use near that many VOB's to reach the total for one ( VTS_01_10.VOB ) that you have described.
So if you could seperate and/or break up into several VTS's...?

DVD2One supports this AFAIK.

New advanced option: support for dvd-video filesets bigger than 9GB:
The extra data is place in the 9th VOB file (thanks to Blutach for the idea!).
This option can be used to create large joins for re-encoding with other tools.
The output plays perfectly fine with Apple DVD player, VLC, PowerDVD and Media Player Classic.
Please note that dvd-video filesets bigger than 9GB are not compliant and may not work properly with other 3rd party tools or dvd players.

It was my guesstimation, since file name of VTS_0x_10 would be illegal.
All the files belong to a single concept (camcorder files, recorded in the highest quality thus the size) and they should be within the same VTS and seamless. AFAIK no freeware supports this.

DVD2One supports this AFAIK.

I'll see what DVD2one has to offer.

Well, tried the trial version (which seems to have a 2h limit, so it won't reach the 8.5GB limit) but I still don't see how can one import a MPEG, it has only DVD import, or is it disabled in or missing from the trial version?
The files are MPEG (actually one big file, after editing), since they were initially burned as VRO files, and the only application I know to deal therewith (TDA) could extract them only as MPG.

So, it seems that the only solution I've been left is the plain old "CCE method", demux, reencode with CCE/HC/whatever, remux/author. That means a lot of "bit-bugetting" before the actual encode ...

If you have better ideas please let me know.

DVD Shrink's reauthor mode allows for DVDs of pretty much any size.

I assume you're right (if one starts adding VTSs in reauthoring mode, one can reach sizes beyond 8.5GB, but not in a single VTS just episodes), however I don't have the DVDs (I mean I have them, but they are in VRO format, thus unreadable by all but few programs), only an edited MPG file, one single 13GB MPEG-2 file. How can I create an oversized DVD containing one title of 13GB?

Is there any solution (I've tried many freewares, like dvdstyler & co, some payware I had, like TDA, powerdirector and nerovision, all of them reencoded, of course badly, the material)? Is there a hidden option to set the VOB size at 2GB (instead of 1) like older DVDrippers could? Or should I default to the good old method of early '90ies?
