Hello, I've been waiting to post here for a while.
This is the situation, I've been wanting to upload videos to Japan's version of Youtube; Nico Nico Douga. I tried uploading the usual AVI file but the result was really horrible (really blocky and blurry)
I researched a bit and found out they encourage that you encode to MP4 before uploading.
I only know how to use VirtualDub, and just barely. I've been using it with some newb friendly instructions someone kindly gave me in this forum, compressing with XVID.
I've uploaded videos to Youtube for years and I've always just followed the instructions, it took me years (I'm not really curious >_>) to figure filters, how to change the framerate and divide the video in segments.
Is it possible to encode to MP4 with VirtualDub? I noticed that when you save a video it says "Save as AVI..." so I'm not really sure.
I researched a little bit more and found an easy to use newb guide for AviUtl, it was a little hard to find the plugins because the guide was from 2008, but I was finally able to encode to MP4.
The size limit for your video on Nico Nico Douga is 100MB if you pay for a premium account and 40MB for a regular account, also a regular account has a space limit of 2GB for all your videos and a premium account a limit of 8GB with 1GB of space being added each month.
I would like to know if AviUtl is good enough or if there's something better I could use, considering I'm a newb at computer stuff and also that the guide I used for AviUtl is from quite a while ago.
Also I managed to make a 1 hour video below 100MB while it still looks good (Size: 514x360 Bitrate: 150kbps~ish), but I was wondering if there are methods to stretch it even more so that the video would be longer, smaller in size and still look good(decent), making more use of the space limit you have in your account.
I'm amazed at how much better at compression MP4 is compared to AVI. XD
Thank you for reading.
