View Full Version : Folders left by Scenarist BD after mux?

Hi Everyone,
I have read that some of these folders left by Scenarist BD after a successful mux can cause compatibility issues on some stand alone players, these are the folders in question,
\BDMV\AUXDATA\
\BDMV\BDJO
\BDMV\JAR
\BDMV\META
\BDMV\BACKUP\BDJO
so is this true? and if so should they be deleted for better player compatibility? also these are being burned to blank BD's, not DVD5 or DVD9 for AVCHD discs, don't know if that makes a difference or not.
Thanks for your help.
Possible compatibility issues are only with BD5/BD9. Some software players actually require these folders to be present on a BD25/BD50.

Thanks, that is what I thought, so since I am burning actual BD blanks, whether it be it BD25 or BD50, I should leave these alone.
I thought that it might be a BD5 or BD9 issue, but I wanted to be safe rather than sorry LOL.

Use a BD-RE instead ;)

What do you mean by this, use the BD-RE settings in Scenarist when I MUX the project instead of BDROM?
Thanks

Not the settings but the test discs, you said that you'll better be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the link, but not really sure I understand it, is that info for burning BD5\9's? if so, I am not concerned about that, I only burn blank Blu-ray media, no DVD AVCHD's.
also when when you MUX in Scenarist BD, should you use the BDROM setting or the BD-RE setting?
Thanks

Always BD-ROM.
And those discs were not AVCHD, read again, were DVDRs filled up with BD structures, not AVCHD ones.
I suggested BD-RE for testing the output without ruining your BD-R collection of blanks ;)

The only folder that 'can' create some problem is the AACS folder (when the AACS key is not present). Some players refuse to play the content when they see the missing AACS key. To overcome this, you can simply delete the folder, keeping only the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders.
Also, since you're using Scenarist, remember to:
A) Choose to mux for BDRE standard (this will create a BBDT folder instead of AACS, without encrypted sectors) OR
B) Choose to mux for BDROM standard but remember to disable the encrypted sectors
If the sectors are encrypted a lot of players will refuse to play the contents.

Thanks for this info, but I have a couple questions LOL, so here goes, on A) do I delete the BBDT folder when finished?
for B) where do I disable the encrypted sectors at?

A) do I delete the BBDT folder when finished?
No, you don't need to delete it as every player will just ignore it.
for B) where do I disable the encrypted sectors at?
In CPS Editor, Settings, Unencrypted Setting. This is needed for burned BD media but if you need to made pressed disc, you should be sure to left it encrypted.

The encrypting settings must be already off LOL, I have been burning BD25's already(with the BDROM setting) and all I have been doing is leaving all folders intact, except deleting the AACS folder, and my BD's have been playing on my Sony & Panasonic players and both Fat & Slim PS3's, I guess all it boils down to is this, I want my discs to be the most compatible, if not 100% compatible with any player I should place this disc into.
Thanks again to ALL for the help and links.

I have been doing some more reading, and now I am wondering, when I MUX should I leave it at BD-ROM or BD-RE v3? and what is the difference between the 2?
Thanks
