View Full Version : How to remake blu ray with original menu structure

I think this can be done with BD-edit ... but I'd need a guide or something for that.
I have ripped a blu ray disc with anydvd hd, removed the region code (region A, while I'm region B) .. all the region check tool I have say that there is no region checker in the ripped disc anymore. But I still get "region mismatch" when I play it in totalmedia or powerdvd.
So I was thinking since I can open it in multiavchd, to get the episodes out, and make a new disc. Hope fully with original menu.
(in case anyone wants to know, it's Breaking Bad S1 .. apparently Sony messed up. On box it says region ABC .. but can't play, so I'm stuck with it)

1) If you're saying you purchased a commercial Blu-ray disc that's supposed to play in your region but doesn't, return it in exchange for one that does play properly
2) No, I don't believe multiAVCHD can preserve the original menu

I'm from Europe.
Bought it online from amazon
I can return it yes, but that won't help me ... since all the discs have the same problem.
Sony fucked up.

Sony f****d up. If you're correct, there's no doubt that SONY will correct and re-issue that title.
(BTW - The use of profanity is unacceptable here)

Is it Java based menus, or HDMV? (Is there anything in the JAR folder? That equals Java based). If it's Java, you'd end up rebuilding the disc, copying the JAR files in to it (to preserve the menus, and this is where the region check likely is), and you'd be where you are now...
If it's HDMV, a tool like BDedit should allow you to find the commands that are checking the region and remove/bypass them (which is what AnyDVD looks for... Not sure if Any can do anything with a Java programmed disc, can it? Never tried...)

It's java based.
if you want to check, I uploaded the BDMW folder here (without stream of course):
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SS42VWZG
As far as I can tell, the disc starts, they plays playlist 630 (with m2ts 226) .. that's the "region mismatch" screen.
I'd need to find a way to skip that & go to the menu, or I don't mind if I get the region mismatch screen ... but that I can skip it, or it goes to the menu afterwards, and not like now that it sits there :)
any help is appreciated in advance !!

I can't play it back without the CERTIFICATE folder, so I can't test this myself... But first thing I would try is this:
In the JAR\00001 folder, open this file:
p1_playbackconfig.xml
with a text editor, change line 13 from
<RegionCheckRequired>1</RegionCheckRequired>
to
<RegionCheckRequired>0</RegionCheckRequired>
and see if that fixes it. If not, try
<RegionCheckRequired>-1</RegionCheckRequired>
Not sure what they use for 'no'. Also, line 14:
<RegionCodeToCheckFor>1</RegionCodeToCheckFor>
can probably be changed as well (or instead), make it 2 or 3 probably for regions B and C. Making it a value of 0 or -1 will probably make it all-region... That might work if turning off 'RegionCheckRequired' doesn't.
I bet one of those will fix it. If not, upload the CERTIFICATE folder for me, and I can try to play with it more. I tried re-signing the JAR, but it's giving me an error...
[Edit] Okay, solved the signing problem... :) I'm only using 1-second pieces of black video, so I can't tell exactly what it's doing, but it appears to go to the main menu (I'm in Region A). If I change 'RegionCodeToCheckFor' to 2, it get's stuck on the second piece of video it plays (I assume that's the PlayList 630). If I then set RegionCheckRequired to 0, it loads all the way to the menus again... So setting that to 0 should solve your problem.
