Bombono DVD is a DVD authoring program, see http://www.bombono.org.

Now Bombono DVD is ready for Windows, too. The main features are:

Video preview: Timeline and Monitor
WYSIWYG Menu Editor
Transcoding, if necessary (from AVI/MKV/MOV/MPEG4...)
Motion menus
Subtitles support
You can author to folder, make ISO-image or burn directly to DVD

It would be nice if you give some feedback here, on this thread, about it. :)

Hi Ilya,

discovered your post a little late, because it is in the wrong section. It should be moved to the DVD Authoring thread.

Can a mod please move this thread...

Otherwise I am quite impressed. Finally some competition for DVDStyler. Tonight I test ran your software intensively (Win XP SP3), and this is what I have to say:

Quite stable already, I only experienced crashes when trying to import video and audio elementary streams. I like the GUI, very easy to use. Also the method to create menus is straightforward, very easy and yet powerful enough for most needs.

But of course there is a lot of room for improvement. I have been a longtime user of DVDStyler, so I know what to look for :)

First of all the file selection method takes some time to get used to for Windows users. My source files usually are located on a different partition, and the file selection window does not let you navigate there. Only Bombono and Program Files is selectable. (Drag and Drop works fortunately).

The chapter creation method also needs work. Creating chapters using the time line works, but it is painfully slow. In addition to this there should be a way to create chapters automatically (one chapter every xx minutes), and there should also be a way to manually create chapter points by entering the time codes or by pasting them in.

Another problem is that Bombono cannot create Video Manager Menus. All titles go into one VTS. This is not a problem as long as all titles have the same aspect ratio, but if you try to author titles with different aspect ratios, you will get into trouble. Right now Bombono does not even issue a warning if the titles do not have the same aspect ratio.

And finally Bombono does crash if I try to add audio and video elementary streams to the media list. It only accepts muxed MPEG2 files.

Alright, so far this software looks very promising to me. Keep up the good work...

Just noticed that Beta 2 is out now which fixes the crash when opening elementary streams.

Any plans to add the ability to create DVDs with multiple VTS?
