How's it going fellas?
Just wanted to put in a post of a different type to get away from all the technical things and problems as such.
Anyone have any contenders for movie(s) they should release onto DVD as soon as possible? A movie which you just can;t wait to get on DVD (or DivX for that matter!)
Mine would have to be the one and only Original Star Wars Trilogy (and Episodes 2 and 3 when they eventually come out!)
How bout u? :)

To answer your question:
Invitation for a gunfighter...
Married with children on DVD...
Twin Peaks on DVD...
STTNG on DVD...
Serpent's egg...
Escape from New York...
If there is a good release of the above, please let me know (with good I mean, good a/v quality+some special features and I don't count trailers to be a special feature :) ).
How about those movies we want a GOOD DVD edition?
Like:
Lone Wolf McQuade...
Heat...
Millers crossing...
Naked gun...
Just a few that came through my mind.
Cheers,
Ookie.

The Indiana Jones trilogy. Not that I like the movies that much, but they're among those movies that are quoted all the time as needing a DVD. Also, The Age Of Innocence, a somewhat forgotten but beautiful Scorsese movie. And a decent DVD of Goodfellas, the current one sucks. (single layered dual sided? ugh!)

I don't know how good they are but Twin Peaks is already out on DVD.
From amazon:
Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only)
• Color, DTS Surround Sound, Box set
• Commentary by directors
• Contains episodes 1-7 (complete first season except the pilot)
• Newly remastered
• Directors' audio commentaries
• On-camera interviews with the cast
• Interviews with cinema & TV experts
• Archival materials from the fanzine "Wrapped in Plastic"
• Log Lady introductions
• Number of discs: 4
(Why they list both 'commentary by directors' and 'directors' audio commentaries' I don't understand). The pilot is also available on DVD, but it's a different studio so it's not included in this set.

I do have a fairly good DSS capture of Kiki on two-disc SVCD, but I really want it on DVD.
Good news to hear it's on DVD in Germany. Looks like it's from the Japanese market. Also looks like it has some good extras. However, the english voice-over is very good, and I kind-of want that version. I believe Disney owns the rights here in the US. I hope they release it on DVD, and sooner rather than later.

slightly OT:
I was checking to make sure E.T. wasn't available on DVD at IMDB when I found out Speilburg is pulling a Lucas and re-releasing ET (in theaters followed by DVD) this year, and digitally changing parts of the movie.
http://us.imdb.com/AlternateVersions?0083866 has a list of the changes made.
among them:
-a new, CGI-enhanced scene showing E.T. and Elliot taking a bath together. The scene was originally scrapped because Spielberg thought the animatronic effects weren't up to par;
Can we say Jabba?
-in the original release, the government agents pursuing E.T. and Elliot had weapons in their hands; the new edition digitally replaces them with walkie-talkies;
Rumor is to appease Drew Barrymoore who is anti-gun.
-In the original cut, Elliot and his mom go to the principal after the frog incident. The principal was played by Harrison Ford, the screenwriter's husband. The scene might be featured in the 2002 edition.
Can we say Jabba?
-Elliot's mother's prohibition to go trick-or-treating dressed as "a terrorist" has been changed to "a hippie";
Lets make elliot's mother have an irrational hatred of hippies, just so no one gets upset when hearing the word "terrorist".
The SE DVD is said to include the original version and the re-release, but I wonder how original the original version will be?
EDIT:
@oddball: The line 'Penis breath' was removed. (Don't think it's worth a new post, so I just tacked the answer in here)

No doubt the original version will still have certain lines changed. Wasn't there a part where Elliot is insulting his brother/friend with some term to do with genitals? I cannot remember the line but I think it was changed in later showings I saw on TV.

lol, tera patrick 5.1 ?? :p
How about some pr0n with decent production values for a change ? pr0n dvds are quite possibly the best example of how not to make a dvd - i don't mind seeing macroblocks in my backups but on the DVD for f**ks sake..... grumble, grumble.....
Also, Star Wars Trilogy - man, does that ever need DVD release. Unfortuneatly i can't see that happening too soon, ....grumble.
