Hi
I have a collection of .trp files, and cannot play them on the PC. I have tried everything !
They are recordings from a V+ box. Does anybody know how to play them, or just open them so I can convert them to an mkv/mp4 or whatever.
Many thanks.

Open one of them using MediaInfo (the GUI version). Switch to the "Text" view in MediaInfo and copy and paste the text into a "code" box in this thread (you get the code buttons in the little post toolbar by posting using "Go Advanced").

Im very familiar with MediaInfo, I use it in my own programs also.
This was the first thing I tried, and it just shows it as a file, gives no media information at all.
OK, maybe I should re-phrase the question, should i be asking :-
How do I get recording of off the V+ HDD, which file(s) do i need to copy over to the PC ?
Perhaps that what I should be asking do you think ?

TRP files are plain TS files with a changed header. VLC can do them just perfect.
iirc mplayer can play .trp files too :)

MPEGStreamclip can open trp files and convert to several file formats including mpeg etc..

Well I tried pretty much every thing under the sun...and no joy !
I think the files must be encrypted, and I have no idea what other files, if any, I would have to copy from the V+ HDD.
Looks like I'll have to just play them into my PVR card and record them that way. Yuk !!
