I have been re-authoring blurays for a while now using MultiAVCHD. I remove extras, foreign language etc to try to make them fit onto a BD25, and in the most part have been pretty successful.

However, I have noticed that some discs have duplicate copies of the main movie or episodes. I'm not sure why, it may be multiple angles or something similar, but I can't get them to re-author.

If you leave them, the resulting disc size is bigger than the original disc, and if you remove the duplicate(s), the resulting disc doesn't play correctly.

Is there a way around this? I'd prefer to use this same program as I can chose to keep the menu etc. and not re-encode the video (like I do with BD-Rebuilder).

I have asked this question at the multiavchd forum (twice), but the staff there check all posts before they appear, and for some reason don't like my question?!

Thx :)

If the original title has multi-m2ts files associated with the main movie's mpls, I don't think multiAVCHD will work. If its a single mpls/m2ts file, but just multiple mpls for that one m2ts, then after multiAVCHD completes re-author mode, the contents will have multiple main movies. If you check the contents of this backup with BDInfo, you will find only one is referenced with a playlist mpls. So you can just delete the non-referenced m2ts file and then all should work and fit the BD-25. :) If you guess wrong as to which m2ts to delete, make sure you saved a copy and try the other m2ts file!
Test with a software player, and if all looks good I would then test with a BD-RE for ultimate confirmation.
I have done several titles this way and all have worked. ;)
But choose wisely and test first!! :p

I have scanned a disc in question, and they are 3 duplicate main movie parts. I have clicked on each one and attached a screen. Is this your first case where multiavchd can't help? What would I need to see for it to work?

Thx :)

Well, a little update... I removed all but the first movie, and the disc loaded, but no film when you press play. Then I tried removing all but the second, again the disc loaded, but when you pressed play it went back to the main menu.

Finally I removed all but the third, and it worked! I still don't know how to check before I start, but trial & error seems to work lol

Thx for the help :)

Use BDInfo, http://www.videohelp.com/tools/BDInfo.
It has been a while since I have done this, but I seem to remember there will be a referance to the mpls / m2ts in use. The other's can be deleted.
Also, multiAVCHD does have consistency, so whatever m2ts file you deleted that made it work, remember that and it should be that way for other discs too. :p
