I originally posted this in the HW forum by mistake. As I see that there aren't any OS specific threads, I figure this is the most appropriate place to repost this:

Just kind of wondering, I'm looking to move my DIVX encoding over to Linux from Windows (sick of multibooting), and I'm wondering if anyone has any recomendations as to the best ripping software / best encoding software / and best editing software for the Linux platform. Thx.

Try drip http://drip.sourceforge.net/ . I haven't tried it. If you have any luck with it I'd like to know. Running Debian here, anyone with any more info on DVD -> DivX encoding under Linux please add.

Cool! Thanks! I'll give it a shot. Doesn't look like it has CSS support, but hey, it's a start. Unless I missed something.

Read Drip's FAQ. It mentions -ldvdcss...;)
