Hi!
A friend gave me a DVDR with a DVD movie in it.
I'd like to know if he used the standard PAL resolution (720x576) or if he shrinked it to 3some x 2some.
ANy VOB info tool would give out this?
Thanks!

Grab the smallest *.vob in the main movie chain off of the DVD. Load the *.vob file into TMPGEnc and start MPEG Tools, select the Simple Demulitplex tab and load the file to demultiplex the video & audio. After demultiplexing, load the video file into DVDPatcher and view the information on the right side (it'll show the bitrate & resolution size). This should all take about 5min or less to do.

Or just use DVD-2-AVI (frameserving tool) to check this.
Although they are not 100% reliable, the .IFO's of most DVD's are 99.9% reliable indicators of the MPEG content within the VOBs.
Arky ;o)

So I trust it when I open the .VOBs into DVD2AVI and the title bar reports its resolution?
I was surprised to find out that the 2 DVD movies fitted into a DVD-R have a 4:3 ratio, instead of the 16:9!! :(
