Hi all,

I want to convert my 3D MKV to a 2D one because my media box is unable to render 3D.
Any useful links are welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Are these side by side H.264? Just take the GUI of your choice and crop away the right half of the picture.

Yes, I suppose they are : Media Player Classic displays both pictures side by side.
I thought that was the MPC default behavior when trying to play 3D on a 2D screen.
I am going to do as you said.
Thanks.

@guista

Hi!

Have you tried using Peter Wimmer's "Stereoscopic Player" for playback?

Yes, I just tried it thanks to your post (I did not know it before).
I understand that the Peter Wimmer's stereoscopic generates a movie you can watch with red/blue glasses on your 2D screen. Am I right ?

Thanks to this tool, I noticed that the only display mode which shows a correct aspect ratio is the interlaced one. In all the other modes I get a squared picture where characters seem taller than they really are.

So I suppose I have an interlaced 3D movie which will be more difficult to convert than I first thought.

I understand that the Peter Wimmer's stereoscopic generates a movie you can watch with red/blue glasses on your 2D screen. Am I right ?It will allow you to view MANY different types of 3D videos, including those requiring two different colored lenses (anaglyph). Click on this link for info:

Thanks for the link.
That's the web site I got the stereoscopic player from.
I am going to read this and learn more about 3D formats (from Doom9, Wikipedia, 3dtv ...) before trying to convert anything :).

I think you misunderstand.

The "Stereoscopic Player" will playback and allow you to view many different formats of 3D media WITHOUT PERFORMING ANY CONVERSIONS...
