Hi!
I asked this on another forum trying to get a quick reply and got VERY confusing replies so decided to come here which is THE place to ask.
Does ffdshow still produces the best image quality for 1080p bluray files decoding or is DXVA better? I have an older HD2400 card so that could affect the answers as well.
Thanks for any help or links.

Whether it is a software decoder or a hardware decoder, both should produce exactly the same output.

So what is the thing about using ffdshow...being able to do post processing..more option for that?
Is the renderer then the BIG factor in the IQ I get?

Post-processing is a different matter altogether. ffmpeg-mt and MPC-HC DXVA internal decoder for example, should produce exactly the same output.
It is only that ffdshow has post-processing capabilities that may improve the quality of ffmpeg-mt output.

This thread is one that confused me showing those differences and including ffdshow in the comparison as if it was a renderer or something:

That post has nothing to do with a decoder at all. ffdshow was mentioned because it has the RGB conversion capability, that's all.
