In the setting there is a possibility to upscale SD material to either HD 720 or 1080. But BD-RB can not load a DVD. So, is there anybody out there who can give me a hint about how to convert the dvd so that BD-RB might be able to load it.
Thanks.

Thanks.You can run it through MultiAVCHD first. It will read a DVD and convert it to BD. You can then use BD-RB to upsize it.
I've done the DVD->BD conversion for several discs -- usually for combining multiple series discs into a single BD. I don't generally upsize them, though. I leave them at 720x480.

jdobbs...are there any known issues with having BD-RB and MultiAVCHD installed on the same machine?

None that I know of, and I have them both installed on the computer I use for all my testing. But as with any other packages, I'd recommend you always install BD-RB and its helper apps last so you know the versions are correct.

@Taurus50
As a point of information, as long as multiAVCHD is being recommended by "jdobbs" for converting DVD to BD format, you should know that multiAVCHD can, at the same time, also perform the upconversion to whatever resolution you wish...

I'd recommend you use BD-RB for that... at least then it is under BD-RB's control.
I also remind everyone that I do not respond to bug reports on preprocessed sources (including multiAVCHD).

We have to sometimes remind ourselves that BD Rebuilder is not a DVD backup program. It is meant for backing up commercial BD discs. That doesn't mean you can't try to use it other ways. But we all must realize that in that decision we are always doing so at our own risk.
I guess the point is that multiAVCHD can be used to make a BD out of a DVD -- and BD Rebuilder will usually work in backing up the output. But in that process it is never known whether any problems encountered come from BD-RB or multiAVCHD (or any other preprocessing for that matter). That's why I always wash my hands of non-commercial sources.

And truer words could not be spoken - Sorry, maybe I should have made "JUST KIDDING" bigger ;>}
