Recording HDTV 1280x720p at 59.94 fps.
If I convert it using AutoGK or StaxRip I get an AVI file that is 59.94 fps - which plays fine on the PC.
When burned to disk and played on (either of two) standalone players, the audio is out of sync.
In StaxRip, I can edit the Field Filter to 'Select Even', which gives me a 29.97 fps AVI file that plays ok on the standalone.
Is there anything else I should be doing in StaxRip to get decent results on a standalone player.

HDTV shows can be put as such on a disk and played by almost any AVCHD/BD player. Why complicating things?

Maybe broxburn's converting it to AVI because he wants to play it using a DivX capable DVD player?

broxburn,
AutoGK has a hidden option (CTRL+F9) to reduce the frame rate of HD sources. I don't think it's enabled by default. Maybe give it a try.

Thank you for the information regarding AutoGK.
It seems that AutoGK, when the hidden option is checked, can detect and reduce the fps rate for the progressive content and leave other sources that are 29.97 untouched when running a batch of files.
This would be ideal if I could schedule the tasks.

I can make multiple recordings and run a scheduled task using the StaxRip command line, but I cannot figure out how to make it behave the way AutoGK does when it sees the 59.94 content..

Follow-up.
I now use a batch file to separate out the 720p recordings (the station call letters are in the file name) and run different scheduled tasks on Staxrip to convert them.
