Hello All,
Actually I am a Newbie. I have installed DVD2SVCD
My question is. Why did they use Cinema Craft encoder,
when TMEGenc is FREE! CCE 2.50 is Expensive!
If anyone knows where CCE can be downloaded, please
send me the URL, or maybe someone knows how to hookup
TMEGenc to this program.
Thanks,
rajnah

Why are you posting in the advanced forum?
My question should be why are you even posting this question at all, when all you have 2 do, is read around the forum and you will find all the answers you need. This question has prolly been asked more then any other.
If you did so much reading around here you would know better then 2 use exclamation marks in your sentences...

Thread moved by me.
I think reading a little more might tell you why people are touchy. This was the sticky just above your post.

Also, it would be better to wait to post in the advanced forum until you have a few more posts under your belt. Just try to do a little more research and read the Q&A and other stickies a little more before posting in the future.
Sorry if it seems like I am singling you out. You just got the luck of the draw on being the newbie to beat up today :D Be a sport.
Also for all new folks:

If you want to technical about it TMPG is only free for 30 days.
That's all you get for encoding mpeg-2 and if the guys that are writting this get their way it won't be free for long.
TMPG is the way to go for Mpeg-1 encoding, but it is a far inferior program to CCE for Mpeg-2.
The guys at TMPG are a little on the not so nice side. They often threaten sites that carry copies of their software for download even if it's in their best interest.

the TMpGenc guys used to be nice, but they did all that work from the goodness of their hearts & nobody sent any donations. ;)
that sounds familiar :devil

Slick I really don't know where you get the from the goodness of their hearts. It was known from the beginning they intend to make it commercial as soon as they feel it's up to snuff or can get someone interested enough to buy the code from them.
I am not knocking this. Everyone has a right to make a buck, but it's definately not from the goodness of their hearts. Now they could have kept the program to themselves and not let anyone use it for free, but this serves their interest as well. They get their name and software known and create a need or demand for it making it easier to sell while also having users find bugs or make suggestions to make it better.
Now the not so nice has come from the way they have been treating some sites that have supported and suggested the use of their software. They seem to be starting to bring everything closer to them and trying to control it more. This might be a sign they are starting to move closer to the commercial route. This is just speculation, but does make sense.
They are not an evil group, but there are starting to act more like a commercial company and the way they treated some of the sites that have supported them could have been done with a little more tact.
