Okay, I've encoded some movies using rgb setting in dvd2avi + vfapi + nandub. Then did the same movie using yuv/avs/gknot. When I compare the 2 versions the rgb version looks more richer in color than the yuv. However the rgb version is darker, but I would rather keep the rgb version and use divx properties to increase brightness than keep the yuv version. In most of the guides here, if my memory serves me, yuv is the recommended method. My question is what does everyone else do when it comes to rgb/yuv?

Well if you re-read some of the guides (http://www.doom9.org) you would find that if you use YUV and AVIsynth then you can use 'fast recompress' in nandub/VD which will bring up speed quite a bit, say 50% or even more sometimes. The difference in quality is almost never as big as to motivate using the (much) slower RGB.
