I know nothing about Blue-Ray. To me, I am fine watching a plain movie that not HD, 3-D, etc. But my hubby wants to nw buy a blue ray dvd player.

I been burning backup copies of movies for a long time, using DVDFab, DVD Shrink, Nero and have all the other stuff I get from the Forum.

I tried reading some of these post before posting my question but still confused. So my question is... Can I still use the same software programs I have if I buy a blue-ray movie and make a backup? Is there anything I have to do different?

Thanks and if you have a 3-day weekend coming up like me, enjoy!

No.

Your best bet is probably BD Rebuilder.

Hi!

Of course, before using BD-Rebuilder (my favorite - but there's a slew of other compressors/converters in the Doom9 "GUI" sub-forum) as suggested by "Grouch 2004", you'll have to rip/decrypt the Blu-ray disc. So:

1) Rip/Decrypt original Blu-ray using (presently freeware) MakeMKV, (payware) DVDFab, or (payware) AnyDVDHD

2) Use BD-Rebuilder to make remarkably high quality compressed backups of either 25Gb, BD/DVD9, or BD/DVD5

(It's been reported that although DVDFab can compress to 25Gb, the results are not of acceptable quality. AnyDVDHD does no compressing)...

Thank you for your answer. I do have (payware) DVDFab. Still trying to figure out BD-Rebuilder instructions.
