I keep receiving the following error when trying to back up my copy of Inception. I tried versions 3701, 3609 and 3603 all on movie only. I keep getting the same error. Never have had a problem before this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

@Godfire1331

Hi!

It looks like you have several components incorrectly installed (or incorrect versions): HAALI Splitter: Isn't recommended version
- FFDSHOW: 3631, not recommended version
- FFDSHOW VC-1 set incorrectly: [0]
- FFDSHOW MPEG2 set incorrectly: [0]

I just tested out a backup of Fearless and it worked perfectly fine. Could it be Inception that is causing it, since it is the only time I have encountered an error. Has anyone made a successful backup of Inception. BTW I used version 3701 to make the successful back up of Fearless.

Why do you think those messages "set incorrectly" are being printed out? Do you think, maybe, that the fact that you've installed all the wrong versions of software (HAALI, FFSDHOW) and BD-Rebuilder is telling you so ("not recommended version") might be an issue?

You probably got lucky on the "Fearless" disc... because it's video is a different format.

Go to the first post of the bug thread, download the proper versions, and follow the instructions (or the same instructions in the BD Rebuilder folder). It's that simple.

Inception is VC1, so my guess is this is the problem. :sly:
I had no problem doing a movie only backup. :)

My next donation will be a kiln dried 2x4 and a leather whip! :p ;)

Ok so I updated Haali and ffdshow, but still had the error. I see in the log that the settings for VC-1 and MPEG2 are incorrect. Checking ffdshow settings those are both set to "disabled." What should I be setting those to? Libmpeg2 or libavcodec? Thanks for help.

From the FAQ, the last topic at the bottom of the page.
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=157143
Once this is complete, delete the BDREBUILDER configuration settings file.
Then, in the BD-RB folder, right click on REG_MSCOMCTL and select Run As Administrator. Then right click on BD_Rebuilder.exe and select Run As Administrator.
These steps can also be found where you download BD-RB.

I tried the whole disc and then just the movie. Same results. It aborts after it tries to re-encode the first file.

I was able to backup my "This Is It". It worked fine. However INCEPTION fails everytime. I updated to the latest AnyDVDHD 6.7.8.0 and reripped it and still same results. Any ideas?

just did inception and it went well,

since I was at the same time testing multiavchd, I tried many conversion with BD-Reb: with menus to BD-R 25GB, with Menu to dvd-9, movie only to dvd-9 all went thru.

Only issue I remember is that in movie only BDreb was taking the 3hrs directors comment , and you need to manually select the film (2h28).

but processing was not an issue

@MCnDaHouse;
Uninstall haali, ffdshow and avisynth. Delete the program folder for Haali. Reboot. Uninstall any codec packs you may have installed or another program may have installed. Check add/remove programs to check and verify.
Install the three programs from the first page of this thread.
Delete the BD-RB.ini.
Try again! ;)

Also, from page 1:
8. Recommended for Windows XP only: Download and install WMV11 from Microsoft, and set VC-1 decoding to "disabled" in FFDSHOW (allowing the WMV11 codec to be used). This seems to be the codec with the fewest problem on VC-1.

MCnDaHouse

Oh I bet it's the WMV9, I use that because the newer versions conflict with some Roxio products I use. I'll give that a try Caps. Thanks!

That's what it was. I upgraded to Window Media Player 11 and changed FFDSHOW to VC-1 decoding "disabled". It now works.

Thanks!

OK, it got through the video reencode. Now Aften.exe fails. It comes up with the message that aften.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. I rebooted and ran the windows cleanup in Norton Systemworks letting it fix any problems it found. Tried restarting BD Rebuilder and got same message. Here's the log for what it's worth. Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks Empty? Your attachment shows it to be 1K -- which couldn't be empty. If it were empty it would be 0 bytes (like the AC3 file).

Have you tried resuming? The AVS file gets created with every encode attempt.

Your AUD_00001_4352.avs should look something like this:

#Created by BD Rebuilder - v0.37.04 (beta)
LoadPlugin("C:\Users\Caps\Desktop\BD-RBV03704\tools\nicaudio.dll")
audio=NicDTSSource("00001.track_4352.dts").Amplify(1.2)
ConvertAudioTo16bit(ResampleAudio(audio, 48000))
Make sure you did not change anything and selected all settings in BD-RB exactly the way the initial setup was done.

I was talking about the .ac3 file. It is empty but I guess it's the one that is trying to be created.

The avisynth file is 1k. Here is it's contents:

#Created by BD Rebuilder - v0.37.03 (beta)
LoadPlugin("C:\dnloads\BD_Rebuilder\tools\nicaudio.dll")
audio=NicDTSSource("00001.track_4352.dts").Amplify(1.2)
ConvertAudioTo16bit(ResampleAudio(audio, 48000))

And yes I tried restarting the bd-rb job a few times. Same result, Aften has encountered a problem and must be closed message from windows xp.

I have my settings for audio at default with nothing checked. I am building for BD-25, should I try to Keep HD audio? Thanks for the help.

I have my settings for audio at default with nothing checked. I am building for BD-25, should I try to Keep HD audio? Thanks for the help. It looks like the DTS file is HD (based on its size). That might be (definitely if true) the issue. Did you have "keep HD audio" set and then stop/change it during encode? That's the only way I can imagine that HD would be extracted (rather than the DTS core) when reencoding is occurring. If so I'll have to prevent it. The NicDTSSource() function won't decode HD.

I may have changed it at some point when the video encode wasn't working. If you think that's the problem I'll delete everything and start the BD-RB process over. Then let you know. I'm doing movie only so I could probably just keep HD audio since I'll be burning to a BD-25. Thanks.

[edit] I looked at the code, and it could, indeed, have happened with the existing logic. I've modified the routines so that you can't resume a job after changing the "Keep HD Intact" setting. Of course that doesn't mean this actually was the problem -- it just seems the most probable based on your post.

I changed the settings to keep hd and restarted the process telling it to delete the workfiles. It ran through and finished fine. One thing I did notice and I don't know if this is something you could add to the program but it aborted one time. I checked and was down to 2gb of free disc space. I deleted some things and restarted it and it finished with no problems. Not sure if you could make it check disc space or tell you when it fails because of low disc space. I know if it's running one of the external programs like haali you can't control those.

Just an idea. Maybe even make a popup or something at the start that warns noobs like me that if you don't have enough disc space free the process will abort. Thanks jdobbs and everyone else for the assistance, it is greatly appreciated!

Well in order to rebuild a disc you need space varying in size. First you need enough space to rip the disc, then you need enough space for the recoding(workfiles) (arround 25G if doing full disc backup) then you need that same size AGAIN if you are rebuilding to ISO (after wich the workfiles / source dir are removed if you chose that option). The total amount for this can vary from arround 75-120GB

I had the problem when compressing several films including Inception.
I realized that FFDSHOW installed but this is not configured.

You have to manually configure FFDSHOW
Star> Programs> FFDSHOW> Video decoder configuration

Configure:
VC-1 Set to "WMV9"
MPEG2 in September to "libavcodec"
September AVC to "libavcodec"

Problem solved.

Hey guys, sorry for bringing this up again after it being solved, but I am also having a small problem with my Inception file. I backed-up the bluray and remuxed into a .TS container with the video and english (obviously) DTS file, then I would try to import it to Virtualdub as a test through DirectShowsource in an Avisynth script, but it fails completely. I then demuxed it and tried importing the VC1 file itself through the same script and that didnt work either. I did muxed it again but into an .m2ts container but this time it strangely worked, almost.

When I tried scrubbing through the timeline in virtualdub, the movie doesnt play as expected, it gives a very scrambled and glitchy look that's full of colours not able to see the actual film itself. From here I am very confused onto what's going on here, surely the ripping, demuxing and muxing couldnt have affected the original streams, i couldnt get the original vc1 file to read whatsoever even after following numerous threads on importing a VC1 stream itself and ina container, what I've done is pretty much workable I believe. Also when it was in its .ts and .mts containers, it refuses to play in WMP11 which would be very odd.

Does anyone know what could be the problem here by any chance?

But no idea where these settings even are;
MPEG2 in September to "libavcodec"
September AVC to "libavcodec"

I have nothing like these in FFDSHOW video decoder config.

Please clarify
