Hi

Ok, first i would like to state that i am a complete newbie :(

Right now I am using DVD2SVCD and i followed the guide over at doom9.net and atm it is currently running CCE_Encoded_Video_Pal.MPV

My problem is DVD2SVCD crashed (i.e. it shut down automatically) but CCE is still running with 74% completed and should be done in less than 50min...with dvd2svcd crashed...do i have to start all over again?

My second question is after .mpv is finished encoding...do i get the bin/cue file or is there another encoding that CCE have to do before i get the bin/cue file?

Thanks

never heard of dvd2svcd crashing like that
suggest you make sure you have the latest build 106 build 3
if you havent then install and start from scratch
if you have then try crash recovery if you had that selected
the bin/cue files are the very last thing created after all of the cce processing

heh, I surely doubt that dvd2svcd shutdown automatically. ALT+F4 would do that if DVD2SVCD was the active window.

I didn't touch Alt+F4...but i must admit that i did click on DVD2SVCD so that i can read the log file while CCE was still encoding...than the progam disappeared :(

Regarding CCE, it is currently encoding an .mpv file...is this the last step or is there another step after this?

It's the last step for CCE, but there are several steps left in the DVD2SVCD process after CCE finishes (pulldown, muxing, authoring).

It's unfortunate the DVD2SVCD shut down. I believe it means that your crash recovery file will end with video encoding, which is the part you are just finishing.

Before starting over, here is what I would try.
- move the vaf and mpv files CCE created somewhere safe on your hard drive (anywhere outside the DVD2SVCD working directory for this movie)
- start crash recovery
- select to restart at the video encoding step
- when CCE starts encoding (may take a half minute or so), manually 'crash' it (in other words, just hit cancle and close the program - you may have to manually 'crash' it two times if you're doing multipass VBR
- let DVD2SVCD start the next step (should either be pulldown or muxing I believe)
- shut down DVD2SVCD
- shut down whatever else it ran
- move your vaf and mpv back to the working directory (or copies of them if you want to be prudent)
- restart crash recovery at the step just after video encoding

I don't really know if all that will work, but it's worth a try, and it'll take a lot less time than starting again from the beginning.

Thanks Kedirekin for the tip.

If it doesn't work...i just again

yeah kedirekin. Your hint works... ehh... worked in the past. The version 1.0.5 - and the 1.0.6 - works monitoring CCE encoding. So, if CCE crashes, DVD2SVCD stops also.

@SxLee:

after CCE finish its job, close it. Open the d2s file, edit the line "project position=XX", increasing XX value. Save it, open dvd2svcd, press crash recovery and verify if the step which goes after video encoding is available. If yes, continue. If not, edit again.

@ sxlee
Are you sure you didn't just minimise it to the tray? (first button of the four on top bar)
P.S.
Dvd2svcd does not show up in task manager whilst minimised. ;)
