View Full Version : DVD2SVCD & CCE 2.50 crashing

I have problems with CCE 2.5 (I patched it with CRC 32 patch).

First some specs:
DVD2SVCD build 6 (problems with pressing/finding the OK-button when choosing subtitles, which program should I downgrade ?)
PIII-800 (not overclocked) 320 MB RAM 20 GB disk
Both Millinium and Win2K SP2
CCE : 3 or 4 multipasses,

Everything runs smoothly until MPV compression in CCE. The VAF file is successfully created and the mpv compression is started. After creating about exactly 130000 KB mpv file (after 3 hours)CCE freezes and nothing happens. No errors, no nothing. The 130 MB mpv works fine.

What did I try ?
- MEMTEST 86 (Yes all my modules failed test 5, but I tried different modules and it always crashes at the same spot: 130 MB MPV)
- Both OS do the same (WIN2K & Millinuim)
- Reinstalling CCE
- CHKDSK + SCANDISK
- Different DVD's
- Tried without CRC 32 PATCH

What else can do?
- I think I am going to try with only 1 multipass..

I will be thankfull for any help, I kind of run out of ideas... Except I might try CCE 2.62.

read some more in the forums or search for cce and crash
try a few more things like adjusting your bitrates
definitely try a 1 pass encode, if that fails you are looking at a tough case
try safe mode as well with both ccd 2.5 and 2.62 if u have it

Go to this site and grab a copy of Gold memory tester.
http://www.goldmemory.cz
If you cannot make this pass 100% there is probably a problem with your board.
If you are overclocking back it off.

To the problem with the subitle-OK-button:
Try small font in your windows-setting, with large fonts the button sometime disappear.

Thanx a lot !!! :D

I did the following :

- Boot into safe mode (In Millinium)
- Changing bitrate from max 2350 to 2800 and avg. 2230 to 2080
- Changed bincubic to BilinearRisize
- Set Multipass VBR to 1 (instead of 4)

Voilá, I got perfect cartoon on 2 SVCD's.
Now I just need to narrow down the problem, so I know what went wrong.

Great!
Now I can concentrate on "less" important things like picture and sound quality (Optimal bitrate and should I use Dual Channel?).

hi
bvh when you do 1pass encoding there`s no need for multipass vbr you can do cbr or 1 pass vbr(but here maybe the # of cd`s not right)
