After many years of using HCEnc generaly with DVD->DVDR backups, i gave a chance to test it for HD propouse mostly at very high bitrate, and i found that have very good balance beetwen result quality and speed. Only problem here is that i can't manage to make BD compatible encode which i can import into Scenarist.
Every time i tried, MUIGenerator finished with this message
ERROR: Value of FrameRateCode and Progressive is not supported in the BD standard
Mine settings
*INFILE C:\fnf2.avs
*OUTFILE C:\hcenc.m2v
*BITRATE 8000
*MAXBITRATE 15000
*FRAMES 0 2000
*PROFILE best
*AUTOGOP 18
*AQ 4
*DC_PREC 10
*BFF
*MPEGLEVEL MP@HL
*INTRAVLC 2
*MATRIX mpeg
source video is 1280x720@23.976fps which is supported combination for MPEG2
I suppose is problem with incorrect flagging stream.
@hank315 i suppose you interest to imporve your encoder, so i can help you, i can share all information you need, and i can make tests along we cover all situations.
Thanks

If you apply ReStream onto the .m2v file,
will it make some difference ? :confused:

Yes, it's work, but after i click on Sequence Extension: Progressive sequence. After this stream is loaded and muxed in scenarist normaly, and passes initial test with Sony BD verifier.

Of course I want to improve HCenc so it's easier to create BD compliant streams, problem is I don't know that much about the BD standard, so I certainly need some help about it.
Your HCenc settings will produce a mixed stream with progressive and interlaced frames, dependent of the source content.
Using *PROGRESSIVE or *INTERLACED with *TFF or *BFF might solve it.
Please let me know if this solves the issue.

I tryed some combinations like *PROGRESSIVE with *TFF or *BFF but without success, still same error.
@hank315 check you pm

HCEnc's Settings page 2 should allow to flag/unflag "progressive sequence" from the last 0.24 beta 09-08-2010 on.
shon3i, does it help if you tick/untick this sequence flag for your BD encodes, not the progressive frame/tff/bff ?
BTW, the ReStream reflag approach worked here as well applied on test encodes to examinate DVD player/TFT resizer faults.

ettings page 2 should allow to flag/unflag "progressive sequence" from the last 0.24 beta 09-08-2010 onYes, that is key, now stream is import flawlessly.

@Shon3i
Can you add the final exact settings you used to the hcenc sticky thread please (as a new post) to get bluray compatibility
