Hi!
I don't know if any of you have had problems with this, but I find the procedure to read files with PowerDVD to be a little long.
So far I've found out that to open a video quickly you can drag and drop it on a PowerDVD shortcut.
That's good, but is there a way to open the files by double-clicking on them ? A little tweak in the registry (shell extensions) maybe ?
Please help ! PowerDVD is great, I don't want to give it up just because of this problem .
Thanx a lot !
(btw i'm using PDVD 3.0)

Can't you just set a standard Windows file association? Highlight the icon, then hold down the shift key and right click. Then select Open With and select your PowerDVD as the application to use. Make sure the little checkbox at the bottom is ticked that says to use it all the time for this file extension.

Thanks for the reply but no.
It doesn't work that way I'm afraid.
If I do that, double-clicking opens PowerDVD but it doesn't open the file.
Any other suggestions ?

Works fine here, at least with PowerDVD 4. But I remembered it worked with 3.0 as well. The only problem with this is that PowerDVD can't handle queuing (for multiple files). But then, the drag-n-drop doesn't work for multi-file select either. Queuing is only possible when the program is explicitly run.
Sounds like a system problem to me.

Tell me Bugs, if it works with you then you can definately help me:
in the dialog box where you can modify file type associations and settings, mine says:
"C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PowerDVD.exe"
as "application used for performing action" (translation from my OS).
What does your line say ?
Maybe it will work if the command line is different.
I think I need to add something after .exe"

I don't recall a dialog box. If you mean the box where you're prompted for the associated program, then that's all you'd put in, the program name. By default for every Win version, the associated program will open & run the document. You may want to try associating another document type with another program to see if the problem is with the OS install or just with PowerDVD.
In any case, if you care to try it, put in a " %1" (sans quotes) after the .EXE to see if that helps any. Some programs take commandline params, although I'm not sure if PDVD is one.

Thanx for all your suggestions but since none of them worked I've tried another way:
Through regedit I made a new link in the vob files' shell, changed its priority so it would be Windows' first choice when I double-click on it.
Tough but worth, now it works !
Thanx guys!
Cya.
