if i just have a .vob file on my computer can i use dvd2svcd to make it into an svcd? obviously i have no ifo file. i tried converting the dvd2avi project file into an avi and then using avi2svcd but it didnt work. any suggestions?
also if i were to have an ifo file from a movie and then say only some of the movie in vobs (for exmaple ripping from a tv series dvd where the episodes arent separate titles) would it just encode what i have? or does it need the whole movie. this is particualrly relevant where i have a dvd with 3 45 mins episodes of a program on it and i only want to rip and encode the 2nd one, and they could be different titles on the dvd.
sorry if this doesnt make much sense.

copy a ifo file (any) into the same folder of the vob file.

Just to expand on what Mozart said.
Make sure the IFO is of the same type (PAL/NTSC) and also the same aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3) and frame rate(23.976, 25, 29.97).
Then name the Vob files the same as the IFO or vice versa.
