I have bought the BD of Ran, hoping for a better image quality than the DVD I saw.

Unluckily, the video has disappointed me a lot. It seems they took a PAL resolution one, upsampled (not very well indeed) and compressed to 1080p.

Probably my diagnosys is wrong (I hope so), but I need some help to clean the strange "upsampled" grain that pervades the sky and any other flatten color area.

I uploaded a sample here (http://www.mediafire.com/?j2e4g8bj6a8c7pn).

Do you think that some script could do the miracle? Tried with MDegrain but it seems not to be able to do the work..

brute force in action!

PointResize(1920*2,1080*2).hqdn3d(15,15,5,5,5).LanczosResize(1920,1080).FFT3DFilter(plane=0, sigma=4,bw=32, ow=16, bt=5, wintype=0, interlaced=false, ncpu=2).FFT3DFilter(plane=0, bt=-1, sharpen=1.0, interlaced=false, ncpu=2)

Looking better when downscaled to PAL 1024x576 size...
