I found this version of this codec and I would like to know if you can use with dvd-rebuilder, as one would have to configure

Can't you use the demo from the website to configure it? It would be great if you could add sp3 to dvdrb as the quality on sp3 is ment to be really improved.

Sorry, I can't find an SP3 demo version on the Custom Technology website. All they offer for SP3 is an update and a manual.
Can you point me to a link for the SP3 demo?

Cheers

Can anyone comment on the quality of sp3 and is it much improved over sp2?

Sony DVD architect seems to work. Always complains about too high bitrate though and it doesn't seem to have a progressive profile either but it doesn't alter them either.

Better.... not Oh My God better but better. Most noticeable in fast scene changes and fades from light to dark and dark to light.

Speed is somewhat faster... With CCE Basic I get about 50fps converting BluRay 1080p to DVD 480p. With SP3 I get about 55fps. Turning on some of the Eye-Candy stuff can drop it down to 35'ish fps

Edit: Screenshot with every Eye-Candy feat I could find to turn on... Converting Couples Retreat Bluray 1080p to DVD 480p 1-pass VBR

You have the wrong luminance setting set.

You have the wrong luminance setting set.

Ah... no

Since I live in NTSC world and my NTSC DVD Player... just like every other NTSC DVD Player (or BluRay player when playing DVD's) is not capable of passing luminance more than 16-235 and my NTSC television display is not capable of displaying luminance more than 16-235 ... the correct setting is 16-235 for NTSC encodings.

In past versions of CCE, the luminance setting was only of concern if the input was RGB, otherwise it did not matter. I assume the same to be true for SP3?

Cinema Craft Encoder uses a YUY2 pixel format internally. If the
source format is RGB, the color space conversion into YCbCr will be
performed using this luminance range.

Yes correct, it only matter if your input is RGB and then 16-235 would be used for NTSC encoding.

Any news on how to get DVDRB to work with CCE SP3?

Of course I cannot speak for jdobbs, but CCE SP3 has a price tag of around 1.000 USD, and there is no trial version available. Now just make a guess how much money jdobbs made from the donations for DVD-RB, and then you will know how high SP3 support might be on his priority list...

I'm working on something similar to how Procode works with DVD-RB. It converts the .ecl file for SP to .xml and feeds it to SP3.

I MAKE NO PROMISES... but in my spare time I'm trying to get this done. If jdobbs adds support before, then great.
