View Full Version : Strip content from Blu-Ray Structure...

Hi,

I am looking for a way to strip content from Blu-Ray structure.

Blu-Rays are ripped to HD folder via AnyDVD-HD.

I want to keep the movie, audio, menus uncompressed (in the blu-ray structure) and strip unnecessary content such as extras, audio tracks etc.

How is this done ?

As far as I have understand there is no one-click-solution (yet), so can this be done manually via a tool such as BDedit ?

Is it possible to just re-programm some of the menu buttons (To have no functionality) and then simply delete the not needed m2ts files ?

Can somebody provide a link to a detailed tutorial ?

Thank you for your help and advise.

You can do this easily with two programs:

1. multiAVCHD (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=151925)

2. Clown_BD BD Copier (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=154574)

As far as the buttons go, this only works with IGS menus through BDEdit, not with the java ones. The majority of the BD discs have java menus.

crl2007,

thanx for your reply !

Could you provide more specific info how to do this ?

Need to use both programs or either one ?

Also, what does that mean for the buttons of the Java menus when u click them but the content is not there anymore ?

Thanx.

You can use either one. I've explained in the guide for multiAVCHD how to blank intros/warnings/extras/trailers/audio/subtitles. As for Clown_BD BD Copier, the program is pretty much straight forward. You choose what you want to keep and that's pretty much all.

The process of blanking in multiAVCHD is based on stream replacing. The program replaces those streams you don't want with 6kb blank streams. This is done to ensure menu functionality. Clown_BD BD Copier is based on the same stream replacing procedure.

In the case of every Blu-Ray from which you delete content, the menu points to something non-existent and the player crashes. It just displays a black picture and you have to insert the disc again in your standalone or in TotalMedia Theatre if you play a backup. That's why the best method to engage is stream replacement. Blanking is a relative term in bd-reauthor world.

okay, just used Clown_BD BD Copier 0.25 on a backup of CASINO ROYALE on my HD.

selected only the stuff that I wanted to keep, clicked HDD Copy

creates batch file that I have to start manually

start batch file, DOS prompt comes up...

then it hangs at 71.1% on Decoding PGS stream (track 6)

Windows 7 Ultimate, x64

Any idea ?

Thanx.

i think the newest version Clown_BD BD Copier 0.25 is a little bit buggy...

cannot select any streams out of the main movie... just select the main playlist file, but no sub selection possible...

if I check "use tsmuxer" I can make a sub selection but then it hangs at 71.1 %....

will report bugs in the other tread...

If you know the content of each .m2ts file, just delete the ones that contain bonus stuff. As long as the disc doesn't attempt to actually play them, it won't care that they are absent (so make sure you leave opening logos/trailers, and the menu video).

If you select a bonus feature, the disc will either crash, or just re-load the menu... Just remember not to do that. :)

Can Java be removed (stripped) from a BD disc assuming you could care less about the supposed features that it supposedly provides?

Yes this is very straight forward. Just replace the movieobject and index bdmv files with ones that play only the main movie.

Honestly, a simple search and a little reading should have gotten you an answer. But whatever, just read the following guide. Although out of date it still works: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=137151

You need to get a feel for what is on the disc bottom line (sorry for the "see my guide" post earlier that was kind of annoying although it will still be effective). You need to either isolate the largest .m2ts file which will most likely be the entire movie and open it in TSmuxer, or if seamless branching is employed (meaning the movie is contained in many small .m2ts files) you need to go to the "PLAYLIST" folder and select the appropriate .mpls file. This can be a little bit of a guessing game, but I generally sort by size and it is *usually* one of the larger .mpls files although this is not always true (about 30 % of the time this is not the case). For this reason you may just need to either do a google search for the correct .mpls file for the particular movie you are working with and you may get lucky or just trial and error until you clearly open the right one in TSmuxer. You will know when you see a playlist open up that is the same length as the movie you are working with, has the appropriate audio and video files (i.e. various languages and 1080P video of the correct total length) and subtitle files). Again while this does not ALWAYS mean you've got the correct file (for example I know good old George Lucas tried some crafty BS on his star wars BDs but I still got 'er done) it will generally work properly.

bdinfo will tell you which m2ts files are played by each mpls file

one method i like using is clown_bd bd_copier as that is the one I have used the most often for this sort of thing. for removing audio tracks you will need to use the tsmuxer mode.

Another great option is to use BDRB (BDRebuilder). You can select in the main interface "Main movie and menus" as output (under Mode menu), then force no encoding by editing the ini file or in the GUI by File menu-> "View/edit configuration file" and input the following (add it somewhere in the middle of the list of parameters):
FORCE_NOENCODE=1
if you want your HD audio make sure to look at the settings in BDRB and untick and tick all the needed combos to keep the HD audio and have it not re-encoded. then double-click on audios you want to get rid of (you'll get a red X over the stripped audio)
