I recently picked up a couple BRD of Doctor Who and want to recode them to H264 in a mkv container to play back on my media tank. Problem is the disks are coded as VC-1, 1080i, and everything pukes on em.

I can play back the ripped files using PowerDVD 7.3 and they play fine. VLC and MPC both choke on em, as well as my NMT.

I use StaxRIP to do most of my encodes, anyone have a suggestion how to handle these files?

I was just reading the other thread about the ...NV tools.

This new one you mention, does it also require a later (CUDA) card? Im currently using a 7600GS (I dont game much). Also, is it a frameserver similar to avisynth or something I would point at my source and get a transcoded new file to feed to staxrip.

Sorry for the dumb questions, I've just started moving my blu-rays over and haven't hit any 1080i VC-1s before now.

This new one you mention, does it also require a later (CUDA) card? Im currently using a 7600GS (I dont game much). That won't work. Check the table liked at my web site:

You can get a cheap card that will work, either at a store or on ebay.

Also, is it a frameserver similar to avisynth or something I would point at my source and get a transcoded new file to feed to staxrip. It's effectively an Avisynth source filter that uses the GPU for decoding and supports robust random access for AVC/MPG2/VC1. It is validated with interlaced VC1.
