View Full Version : BD-RB: way to "hack" custom AVIsynth scripts for titles?

OK I've been holding off but I bit the bullet and tried out BD-RB (v. 0.34.02) this week.

I did a test run with a Sopranos BluRay disc and it worked perfectly. Wow!!

However I was hoping to be able to hack in my own AVISynth files (I prefer to resize the features to remove black borders - yeh don't ask - I know it's anal!!) However BD-RB creates the AVISynth files on the fly and just overwrites my substituted .avs files (when I marked these as Read Only BD-RB gives an error popup).

Is there anyway to make BD-RB use my own AVISynth creations? I tried running it overnight with ultra-crapo quality settings to build the AVISynth file templates. However re-encoding at very high quality settings and BD-RB wants to put back all the AVISynth files.

I could hack a script to detect changes to AVISynth files and overwrite with mine... But that seems... well a horrible hack!!

Otherwise it's amazingly polished bit of software already. The audio options are spot on! I didn't have any problems with the encoding process, etc. :thanks:

I did notice that I can't blank any titles? Is that feature still a work in progress??

Why would you override it? You have to live with the black borders; the only possible override would give you a distorted picture (often quite obvious, given the common 40px borders top and bottom). That's the price one pays for Blu-ray spec compliance.

No I didn't think I'd have to make it clear  that I was talking about small framing errors (2-20 pixels) that are visible when watching a BluRay on a PC vs. an overscanning TV. I am not talking about black bars to maintain aspect ratio.

Can anyone else be more helpful about my actual  request for help?

I was talking about small framing errors No you weren't. You said this:

I prefer to resize the features to remove black borders - yeh don't ask - I know it's anal!!

Everyone interprets black borders to mean letterboxing or pillarboxing. If you want to misuse common terms, you should expect to be misunderstood.

Can anyone else be more helpful about my actual  request for help? I suggest you lose the attitude or you'll develop a bad rep.

You asked about "black bars". Clearer questions get narrower answers.

Fair cop - on reflection my post is a bit long and unclear. :stupid:

Anyway I've put the ability to edit/replace the video Avisynth files for BD-RB in the feature request thread. Much clearer and hopefully most useful to the widest group of people.

I guess we can call this thread dead??!
