I have a PAL dvd that came with no English subtitles. I took English subs in SRT format and converted it to SUP format to be dvd-compatible.

Do I have to completely re-author the dvd to add subtitles? If so, how would I go about doing this? I think I read once that you could re-author the main movie using MuxMan to add the subtitle stream, and then add the main movie back in using VOBBlanker so you can re-author the full dvd with the menus?

yes, with the caveats that you want o make sure frame rate for your subs matches, different versions of movies can exist with different times, you'll have to use another app/method to set the sub color afterwards, If the menu includes a sub menu page, I'd suggest added testing, swapping vobs this way you want to make sure there are equal numbers of cells, & muxman has no provision for cells that are not chapters -- you'll have to edit the results in PGCEdit if that's a prob, i.e. added chapter points that don't show in any chapt menus.
