The other day I had to capture about 2 hours and 8 minutes of VHS material that should be made into VCD's or SVCD's.

I decided to make it SVCD's and use DVD2SVCD, since it has done so well with .vob files...

I had 7 .avi files measuring a total of 14,078,567,464 bytes (13 GB).

I thought it would be a matter of indicating to the DVD2SVCD program the complete "collection" of avi files and that would be it.

But unfortunately, DVD2SVCD would only make ONE AVI file at a time.

That meant 7 .mpg files, each one of them worked separately. A real mess...

Is there a way around this? That is, is there a way to make several AVI files into ONE mpg file and then cut it for 2 or 3 SVCD's?

Suggestions would be greatly welcome.

Trying to solve the problem of the 7 immense files:

1) I tried avi2mpeg2 (bbmpeg). It got all the files and started. But I noticed that it would ALWAYS start with MPEG-1 video file, and I needed an MPEG-2 video file, (for SVCD). Also, I noticed that it was going to take about 2 days to do the job.

2) I tried virtualdub. The objective was to make one avi file out of the 7 avi files. Unfortunately the PC in which I have enough room for the 11 GB that Virtualdub is a FAT32 Windows ME/2000 shared computer. So this solution won't be possible.

The "perfect" solution would be if DVD2SVCD were able to join several AVI files into one MPEG-2 file (as it does with the .vob files).

I might be very close to a solution, but suggestions would be welcome.
