Rip timings from Japanese subs - possible?

Is there a way to just rip the timings from a set of Japanese subs? I have them in IDX/SUB format and also have the full set of VOB's.

I tried to do it using SubRip by just inputting random letters for kanji, but it didn't seem to learn anything.

I can't believe there's no easy way to do this... help!

You can use the SubtitleCreator's function of synchronize, if you don't need the Japanese SRT.
