pls help: keep getting error messages

after so many years of doing this, I am now getting error message and burning failures.

does anyone know what could be the problem? here is the message I am getting. I dont understand any of the tecky stuff at all. thank you for your help.

Either poor quality media or a failing drive - or both...

(Try cleaning the drive, using a DVD/CD cleaning disc)

Thank you for responding so quickly. The media is the same that I always use, but I did just purchase a new batch recently. Maybe I got a bad one. I will try cleaning the drive and see what happens. Thanks again for your help.

You might want to edit your post and remove the serial number to your Nero license.

Did you try the HP DVD writer, with this same media?

Pioneer DVR-104 belongs to the second generation of DVD-R(G). That's probably around 2000.

I'm not sure if it has all the FW updates to accept high speed media and also not sure if it still works, mine do, but I'm using it only on -RWs.

Setarip-old: thanks again for your suggestion. I cleaned my dvd drive and this time it worked. if it happens again, I'll try another brand of media and if it happens again, not sure what step to take next.

Capsbackup: Didnt even think of trying it on my HP DVD writer, but then I think it only takes +R media and didnt have any on hand.
