Hi to you all,
I was wondering if there is any different between VBR 4 or 5. I always convert a movie at VBR 4 (passes) but is VBR 5 better for the final result?
VBR 1 = BAD
VBR 2 = GOOD
VBR 3 = VERY GOOD
VBR 4 = EXCELLENT
VBR 5 = OUTSTANDING
Is it something like above?
Thanks

this is covered in the faqs and guides
but general consensus seems to be that anything past 4 passes the improvement in quality is almost impossible to notice

vbr 1 = no sence (pay atention: multipass 1 pass is different of 1passVBR, wich uses Qfactor to improve que quality);
vbr 2 = bad
vbr 3 = very good
vbr 4 = very very good
vbr 5: almost equal to vbr 4

This depends on the target bitrate.
There is no use of making severeal passes when using (very) high bitrate. If you have a sustained bitrate over 2 Mbit/s then there will be no real gain using VBR4 or VBR5 at all.
I have used VBR 5 when I made a long movie on one CD which gave a very low bitrate (700kbit/s). In that case I had tried VBR 4 and I could see a difference.
