a while ago when doom9 posted a msg about his bandwith prblm i posted a reply suggesting hosting file using Edonkey2000 network.
nobody seem to reply to that idea.
why Edonkey2000 network over any others?
becuase you can give link directly to a file on that network.

edonkey will d/l that file from as many people as it can find on the network.
i'm sure that will reduce your file bandwidth to like 20% of current.
i'm also sure that many people will host files to help out you site.(i sure will)
since url also include hash of a file there is no chance somebody will mess around with it becuase hash will change.

Even myself tried to recommend putting whole ftp sites on edonkey to make them more efficient (private ftp sites using a non-public edonkey server with one dedicated client for serving the first instances of the files). Unfortunately, every time my attempt failed because nobody was really knowing about edonkey and didn't start using it. But one thing is true for sure, it would be great to see this working once.
