I use ffdshow to decode my videos as I like its postprocessing abilities like grain adding, Lanczos4 resizing and deblocking). There are a few times, however, when high-resolution, high-bitrate H.264 videos stutter on my computer (Athlon X2 3800+, GeForce 8800GT, 4GB Ram), especially if enable debanding. Is there a way I can install CoreAVC and have it decode H.264 but still being able to use ffdshow's PP?

[edit] I use ZoomPlayer 4.51 for playback, as I like its interface the best. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Set ffdshow to decode "all supported" raw video formats.

? Will that allow ffdshow to affect playback of all other formats I have an external decoder for (like QuickTime and Real)?

For Real the answer is yes. But Quicktime doesn't use directshow anymore, so the answer is no.

Um... if you get stuttering with ffdshow, then I'm guessing that ffdshow + CoreAVC (or for that matter, any other decoder) will only slow your cpu down even more. You'll probably have to use either ffdshow OR CoreAVC.

You can read my guide : Home Theater tutorial (http://www.homecinema-hd.com/home_en.html)

It is with mpc-hc but you can adapt it with zoomplayer.
