View Full Version : AviDemux2 wont save my video with synch corrected ac3 audio

every time I try and save my video file with its ac3 audio, it saves the video, but with no sound at all. the odd thing is that the latest avidemux recognises the audio contained within the video, and my system in general as well as avidemux can play it back fine in wmp, so I dont see what the problem is when I try and hit that save button in avidemux, as I have all the correct codecs installed.

my entire reason for using avidemux is to get the audio in the avi in synch, so Ive got my video settings on 'copy', and my audio settings also on 'copy' with 'shift' ticked along with my value of 150ms. I do not see what the problem could be, as I have corrected synch issues with video before (that also use the same audio, ac3). Setting to 'packed' or 'unpacked' (?) also makes no difference, the file simply saves the video stream only

any ideas? thanks

I will try and post a small section up tomorrow, but I think Ill try a couple other similar synch capable programs first to see if one of those can do the job... the video (its part 1 of 2 videos, its the one that wont save with audio) has no audio playing for the first few minutes, I thought that might be whats causing some sort of confusion with avidemux2... yet its just a simple xvid with ac3.

update :- I have been told that programs such as YAAI and AviMUX might do the same job as avidemux, but better. I have now tried AviMUX, it worked fine with that, the audio stream in that after editing the avi is stated as being "384kbps, CBR, 5Ch, 48khz, bad:13823" and after correcting the delay, the avi saved properly with the video and audio.

I have noticed that the finished file from AviMux can be added to avidemux2, and if I try and save it from there, avidemux2 does save the audio stream, so there must have been missing info in my initial video stream with its out of synch audio that was causing avidemux2 not to edit/save it with its audio... very strange!

How did you make it? Buggy tools abound...

haha, most likely, an old family video- im always using freeware to convert/change formats, but im just glad that avimux was able to sort it ok. avidemux2 is still a good program, it has alot more options than avimux, but when it came down to just keeping the audio in synch, avimux did the better job! Im wondering what the "bad:13823" factor in the audio stream data corresponds to (after adding the video to avimux)... perhaps the video had errors itself. thanks
