Filters.. Virtual Dub or TMPGEnc?

Which filters in general give the best quality, the ones in Virtual Dub, or TMPGEnc? I am currently using TMPG to filter while encoding and was wondering if it would be worth while to have Virtual Dub do the cleaning and teleciding as a seperate process or continue to let TMPG do it.
