View Full Version : Is there a 64 bit of WMV and MOV demuxer/decoders?

I'm wondering if there's any way to install a 64 bit version of Wmv (1,2,3 and VC-1) and Mov (all) demuxer/decoders, including audio in both? I have tried MPC HC x64 version 1.3.1764 wth WinXP x64, but it doesn't play any Wmv neither Mov files. With Windows Seven x64 it have worked for Wmv, although even using MPC HC internal filters or FFDShow libavcodec you still need some external 64 bit DLLs from Microsoft ('WMVCORE.DLL', 'WMASF.DLL', 'WMVDECOD.DLL', etc). I have tried to install the Microsoft pack 'wmfdist11-64.exe' that supposedly installs x64 version of Wmv decoders, but in fact it installs x86 ones. Any ideas?

Before any one asks, the reason I'm searching for this information it's because of this great contribution (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=152800) that JoshyD made. ;)

Thanks!

Ok. I have figured out a way to decode Wmv files. Just get the pack 'wmfdist64.exe' that comes inside the 'WMFormatSDK64.exe' (i.e. Windows Media Format 9.5 SDK). This pack comes with the old 10 version of decoders, not 11 or 12. The earlier SDK (Windows Media Format 11 SDK) comes with the same 'wmfdist11-64.exe' pack I told in my last message, so it doesn't have x64 decoders. But AFAIK the version 10 can decode pretty much everything that comes inside a Wmv file, including audio and even VC-1 codec.

Remember, if you have Vista/Seven x64 installed, you don't need to install this pack, because these OS already come with x64 WMP and all x64 Wmv decoders as well.

So, for now I'm stucked only with Mov files. Hope any one can help me. :)

Simple solution. Don't back up your DVDs to MOV.

But there's a lot of Mov files outside the web and generated by digital cams. It's not that simple. :)

Use the 32-bit version of MPC-HC

As I wrote above, JoshyD made a great port of Avisynth and MVTools for x64 platform, and the performance increased a lot. That's why I'm trying to get x64 decoders. :)

Shouldn't Haali's splitter be able to open MOVs? Then, you could use ffdshow to decode the SORENSON and AVC variants.

Hmmm... I already do that with MPC internal Source Filters. But there's still a lack of other Apple audio and video decoders. Do you know if there's a 64-bit version of QuickTime?

Hmmmm... So sad that Apple doesn't have any plans to release a 64-bit version of QuickTime for Windows. Hope someone do a magic to port it, hehehe. Anyway, thanks for your efforts.

I've noticed that FFMPEG (http://ffmpeg.org/) has already developed x86 decoders for all these stuff, because I can open perfectly movies that use these codecs (twos and sowt for audio, and mjpegb for video, for example) with both VLC and MPlayer for Windows. I've tested the last FFMPEG x64 build from here (http://ffmpeg.arrozcru.org/autobuilds/ffmpeg/mingw-w64/static/), but it doesn't open Quicktime videos properly.

Also, I've tried to use a program called Proxy Codec64 (http://amamaman.hp.infoseek.co.jp/english/proxycodec.htm), but I can't see any useful 32 bit decoders in the combo box list.

Any ideas?

dunno if i have the same problem, but all the mov files started to chop recently? i had both 32 and 64bit klite codec pack installed imo and everything was working fine until something happened... tried to re-install the packs and qtlite, but still the same problem...
i've got xp x64... are there any special procedures i should carry out to get it fixed? :s

maybe adobe cs4 and cs6 bridge are causing some issues when both are installed? the issue might have occured after i installed premiere cs4... or qt lite after that.. cant remember exactly when it occured :s
