Hello

I'm looking for a utility that, given N files in a directory, "groups" them by filesize according to a specified maximum.

The practical example is best : when I copy stuff from my camcorders I end up with hundreds of files.
First thing I do is back them up to DVD, and the process of grouping them in bunches of upto 4.5GB is tedious.

so if anyone got something of the sort, I'm listening.

thanks

I'm using Total Commander for that.. Just go into the folder with lots of files and press "Alt+Shift+Enter" - it makes it show on the right how much disk space each folder and file in the folder you are uses. You can then use Insert or space to select files and folders and in the bottom of the applications (under the file list) you can see the total space the selection uses. So knowing a DVD holds about 4400 MB you can easily get close to that. Then just move the selected files and folders into another folder on the same drive letter (instantly) and burn them.

I use SizeMe

has presets for DVD-5 and I think it can make disc images making batch burning with imgburn easier
