OK I'm a newbie, after initial teething problems I seem to be underway doing my first SVCD

Currently at 65% of CCE_Video_Information_File.vaf, just over 3hrs elapsed and just under 2hrs to go. Is this normal lengh ? Hope so

What comes next ?

Anyway my question is after going through all the various forums, everyone seems to have their favorite burner, any suggestions for Scary Movie (PAL) 2 audio (UK & Italian) 2 subtitles ?

Any hints more than welcome

First you are told your CCE speed. It is the RT value. A normal speed varies between .5-1.5 depending on many factors including CPU, amount of memory, Source Material (PAL is always slower) etc..

Don't be surprised when you start encoding again and it has 10 more hours to go. The Vaf file is only an information file. You need to multiply the amount of time the vaf file takes by the number of VBR passes you do. SO if Vaf file takes 5 hours and you have chosen a 3 pass VBR you can expect the mpv file to take around 15 hours to complete. So you are far from done.

As for burners all seem to work fine. However you will need to test your individual burner on SVCD's to see what a good Max speed for you is. Many people cannot burn more then 4X regardless if their burner does data at 24X just fine. Test you burner and see if you have problems with the video. If you do slow it down a bit until you have no more problems.

Welcome and make sure you read the Newbie FAQ and the Q + A, which you will find the link in the Newbie FAQ. I am sure this will answer many questions and save a few posts.

Perfect timing for your reply, just as you message came up, cce started the ...mpv
Time for bed and we'll see what comes up in the morning.

I have spent considerable time going through the various forums, learning more and more as I go on, including the Newbie Q&As, I'm sure you'll agree that if people used better subject decriptions it would make things quicker for everyone
